A Nap Desk Is Exactly What You Need To Be Productive At Work

Going early to work after you stay up at night is one of the biggest nightmares that you have. All you crave in the morning is a cup of coffee to fight the drowsiness that you are feeling. However, having coffee in the afternoon can make you restless and disturb your sleep, continuing the pattern all over.

No matter what you do, you have to stay awake and alert at your work. The biggest solution to this problem is, surprisingly, a nap! Many researchers found that a short nap during these days can boost your alertness better than long sessions of sleep.

A study made in 2015 founded that naps can strengthen the immune system by reversing the sleep deprivation effects. You don’t have any side-effects from naps, however, they are highly refreshing and won’t affect your sleep at night.

A study was published by Nature Neuroscience in which researchers tested subjects on their performance on perception four times during the day. With each test, the performance deteriorated, however, participants that took a 30-minute nap in between tests showed a better performance than the others and completely stopped the deterioration. People who took a 60-minute nap between tests reversed the process and had worse scores.

The co-author of the study and associate professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside, Sara Mednick, stated that naps offer the benefits that the full nights of sleep do if they had a specific quality of nap. Additionally, she mentions that different types of naps offer specific benefits.

However, taking a nap in front of all your colleagues in the office is not suitable at all. Additionally, it’s really uncomfortable to nap in a chair with your head on the desk.

Because of that, Nancy Leivaditou, a Greek designer of Studio NL created a solution to this problem. This solution is a multipurpose desk that can transform into a bed on activation. The desk is 2 meters long and 0.8 meters wide and it’s called 1.6 S.M. of Life Desk.

The upper layer is a sturdy lacquered wood with a mattress hinged on one side. The other two sides that are for the feet and head are boarded up by plywood and can be reclined. All you need to do is slide the top board backward from the sitting position and push the mattress back.

Additionally, this desk/bed has a built-in TV if you need a break without napping. This invention is amazing for home space, however, it is still not out on retail yet. Make sure your alarm is set before going to sleep because this comfort might make you want to sleep longer than you intended.
