Many people think that having lots of money is great. However, there are many more important things in life aside from the money. Of course, money helps with almost all of the important things such as health, but if you do have millions of dollars and bad health, then it’s not worth it.

Couple Wins Lottery

All of us have dreamed about winning a jackpot or winning millions from the lottery. Well, this dream became a reality for Allison and John McDonald. This couple lives in Stockton-On-Tees in the UK. Before winning the lottery they were living through hell. Their 15-year-old son, Ewan, battled cancer (Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). They had to spend a lot of money to help his son through so winning the lottery was sure to help out with the medical treatments. On December 18, 2019, the couple placed their lucky numbers and won the lotto draw of £2.6 million (about $3.4 million). However, this was the least favorite news they heard.

Son’s Cured from Cancer

After enduring a year of chemotherapy, the doctors informed Ewan that he’s cancer-free. This came only three days after winning the lottery. This news was even more exciting to John and Allison than winning the lottery. Finally, all that the couple wished for came true in three days. Now their son does not have to endure any more chemo treatments and both John and Allison can retire. Before winning the lottery, John (62) worked as a security guard while Allison (49) worked at an optician’s office.

Odds of Winning the Lottery

Many people say that winning the lottery is insanely hard. They claim that there’s a bigger chance of being hit by an asteroid than winning the lottery.

For a lottery that needs you to pick 6 numbers from a possible pool of 49, the chances of getting the winning ticket, or getting all 6 numbers correct, are 1 in 13,983,816. This means that your shot at winning is 1 in almost 14 million which is not easy. With some math, this means that if you buy a ticket each day, you’ll need 269,000 years to win the lottery. Remember that this is just one type of lottery ticket that you can get. Mega Millions have a worse odd (approx. 1 in 175,711,536).

Imagine just how lucky this family was. Not only did they win the lottery but their son was also cured of cancer. In just 3 days!
