Artist Turns Ordinary Stones Into Adorable Animals That Fit Inside Your Palm

Akie Nakata is a self-taught Japanese artist. When she was a child, she loved picking up stones and collecting them. Eventually, this became her inspiration and started turning the stones into an amazing work of art.
The collection of tiny painted stones from this Japanese artist took cute tiny animals to another level. The talented artist made the creations one of the most beautiful stones that have ever been created.
Akie chooses stones which she thinks as having their character and turns them to life by painting them with only acrylic paints.
While Akie was walking along a riverbank, she noticed a stone that looked like a rabbit. This gave her the idea to convert stones into amazing pieces of work.
The artist believes that the stones have their intentions. The encounters she has with the stones serve as signs and what she sees in the stones, she paints.

Akie develops a connection with the stone that she chooses. Additionally, she respects the stones in their original form and does not modify them in any way (except with the paint).
When she finishes painting the stones, they look life-like, complex, and beautiful. Akie claims that she tries to find life in all of her chosen stones. She paints dogs, cats, birds, mice, and other animals with acrylic paint.
Her work is never finished unless she sees the eyes of the animal. If the eyes are not alive and don’t look back at her, she is not done with the details of her art.

Akie admits that she sometimes talks to the stones while holding them. She believes that every stone she paints has a soul and a story to tell.
The amazing artist states that to become a small stone with the shape that it has from a huge boulder in the mountain takes a long time. She also adds that she thinks of the history of the earth that the stone has witnessed throughout the years.
The stones are adorable and very realistic. You can check them out on her Instagram page.
