Chocolate Avocado Cake That Can Actually Help You Lose Weight


When you tell someone that you’re making yourself a “healthy cake” they will probably laugh at you thinking you’re just joking. However, if you get alternatives for the traditional flour, dairy products, and artificial sweeteners that people normally use when making a cake, you will find yourself a delicious healthy cake. One such recipe is this chocolate avocado cake.

The cake is very organic and delicious and at the end of the day, it will help you lose weight instead of gaining it. Avocados are the perfect substitute for butter because of their softness. When you put it in the cake, you cannot taste the avocado at all!

Avocados contain an incredible amount of vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. It can be a great source of folate for repairing cells and lutein for your eye health. The healthy fats contained in the avocado makes it amazing for a ketogenic diet.

Additionally, avocados are used to treat osteoarthritis and to lower high cholesterol. Researchers have stated that avocados have cancer-fighting properties. Because of all these health benefits, it’s logical that adding avocados to the cake will make it much healthier than adding the unhealthy fatty butter.

Along with the other ingredients, you will never sense the avocado. Instead of using refined white sugar, you can sweeten the cake with either maple syrup or honey. Also, do not use white flour.

Chocolate Avocado Cake Recipe


  • 1 ripe organic avocado, mashed until smooth
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey (or your desired amount)
  • 5 tablespoons of dark chocolate cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup of coconut or avocado oil
  • ¼ teaspoon of sea salt
  • 3 cups of coconut flour
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of filtered water
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (or squeezed lemon juice)

For The Frosting:

  • 2 ripe organic avocados, mashed until smooth
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey
  • 5 tablespoons of dark chocolate cocoa powder
  • Mix all the ingredients till smooth


  • Begin with preheating the oven to 350F. Grease up and add the flour to two 9” round pans for cakes.
  • Mix the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Take another bowl and mix the avocado oil alongside the avocado, vinegar, water, and vanilla extract. Once they are combined, add the maple syrup or the honey.
  • Add this mixture to the flour mixture and stir them.
  • Divide the mixture between the cake pans evenly and start baking.
  • Check after half an hour if the cake is done.
  • Leave them to cool in the pans and after 15 minutes, take them out of the oven so they can completely cool.
  • Add the layer of frosting on the first cake and then top the second one.
  • Add the remainder of the frosting to the top of the whole cake.
