Millions of people around the world sit cross-legged and it is their default posture. You may feel relaxed and most comfortable when having your legs tucked under each other. The downside is, you will experience cramps if sitting for long periods of time. Due to reduced blood flow to the legs, you will feel pain in your knees and calves.

An American company called Health by Design invented the Soul Seat. It is designed to make cross-leg sitting more comfortable and relaxing we can all agree it is a brilliant idea. This piece of furniture is amazing for such a sitter, as it features a top perch that you can adjust as you wish, a lower platform designed to cross or fold your legs and let the blood flow effortlessly, and detachable legs to place the seat on the floor.
This seat may help in improving the posture of the body, and as the company says “tilts the pelvis forward, opens the hips, and lets the spine align to a comfortable, neutral position”.

“Designer and founder, Pack Matthews, was frustrated with how conventional ergonomic chairs left him in pain and offered no options for changing position while working at the computer,” the company’s website reads. “Collaborating with friends, a physical therapist, yoga instructors, fine woodworkers, and industrial engineers, Pack developed Health by Design’s first product, the Soul Seat.”

Its design is a one-of-a-kind seat. Therefore, the US Patent Office registered it as a unique and innovative approach.
For those who practice yoga, this chair might be of benefit to you.
Before he began to design the Soul Seat, Matthews was practicing yoga, and he wasn’t very good at it. But, with the help of the new chair, his practices were more successful, as he got more comfortable sitting on the floor. He started doing poses he’d never done before he launched the Souls Seat.

“With this product, Pack’s dream of never needing a conventional chair again became a reality. Now he starts his the day on his yoga mat, switching to work on the computer, and ending the day stretching on the yoga mat before bed without ever having to use a conventional chair.”
He claims that his new seat targets people who practice yoga and Malaysians who enjoy sitting cross-legged, or as they say Bersila. Fortunately, his project paid off, as Malaysians are going mad about this seat.

The fact is, Asians are groomed to sit cross-legged from early childhood. AzyanDraws, a Malaysian artist, shared a photo of the Soul Seat on Twitter and dozens of Malaysians reached out to the artist, asking if the seat could be shipped to them. As many people are interested, the post gained over 42,000 reactions and it became viral.

If you are ready to give yourself a comfortable seat and have enough money in your comfort-item budged, you should buy it. As they are class acts, you should consider that they aren’t cheap. The price of the regular Soul Seat is $975; the floor model is $575, while the Bamboo Soul Seat retails at $1,200.

According to the company, a little wear might appear to the seat over time depending on how it is used. But you shouldn’t worry, as is happens with all kinds of furniture. So, be careful when using it.
The seats come in two materials that include Pendleton and Primera wool. They produce a variety of colors such as black, chalk, merlot, blueprint, grey, doe, and marine. The wooden leg of the Bamboo Soul Seat comes in three different colors- wheat, natural, and amber.
