Experts found that your shoes are magnets for sources of E. coli (bird droppings, dog waste, or public bathroom floors). It is the same case with the leaves and debris, which carry plenty of bacteria, even they are not seen. Conducted studies showed that your shoes have on average 421,000 different types of bacteria, and about 90-99% are transferred to your home.

For example, E. coli (Escherichia coli), is a bacterium that lives in your intestines and it can lead to intestinal problems, diarrhea, and urinary tract infections. Very common symptoms of infection include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, and constant fatigue. The infection by E. coli can occur even if you swallow a small amount of it.

This bacterium is known for causing life-threatening inflammation of the colon. This study eliminates the meaning that it’s usually caught in healthcare settings. Results showed that only 448 of 2538 samples, came from the hospitals.

The majority of others bacterium caught on shoes from parks, fast food restaurants, chain stores, and commercial stores. Additionally, the experts found traces of this bacteria in people’s homes, which are transferred via their shoes. They concluded that on average, 25% of people’s shoes carry this bacterium.

Signs and Symptoms of C. Difficile

Almost a half million of people in the United States get sick from C. difficile, and these numbers have been increased in recent years. According to medical statistics, this infection is becoming more difficult to treat. People infected with C. difficile have symptoms of fever and get dehydrated, get blood or pus in the stool, rapid heart rate, swollen abdomen, and others symptoms.
