Nowadays, the world is filled with darkness and grim, where people leave behind the basic essence of humanity. Social media focuses more on fist-fights and frustrated people who would call the police on anybody.
Thankfully, a man from Oxford, Alabama, changed the views on many people who followed his story.
While having dinner with his two friends at Brad’s Bar-B-Que, Jamario Howard from Oxford saw an elderly lady sitting alone.
Howard thought: “Dang, I’d hate to have to eat alone,”, as he wrote on Facebook, and approached the woman. He politely asked her if she wants to accompany.
It seemed that Howard and the woman, who is named Eleanor, get along very well. After they chat for a while and told stories of their lives, she ended up telling Howard that her husband recently passed away. Eleanor was celebrating what would have been their 60th anniversary all alone.
Howard, touched by the story of this lady wrote: “I instantly gave my condolences and asked her to come eat with us, which she was excited to do.”
Eleanor wasn’t feeling so lonely anymore, as she set with the three young men, and enjoyed her meal while chatting and joking.
Howard felt with this woman and later wrote: “The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people. You never know what they are going through. This woman changed my outlook on life and how I look at other people. Everyone has a story, so do not judge!”
He wanted to mention that senior citizens are generally forgotten by today’s society, and added: “And people I can’t stress this enough. GO SEE YOUR MOM AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. They miss you!!!”
After he posted this happening on his Facebook, it was shared over 50,000 times, and even got surprisingly 186,000 positive comments.
So tonight JaMychol Baker Tae Knight and myself went out to eat at this place called Brads in Oxford, and after us…
One of the comments said: “So lovely.. and YES.. go see your mom. I lost mine 6 years ago and what I wouldn’t give for one more visit with her.”
Another user commented: “Your parents raised you guys right, they taught you respect and compassion. I wish more people had the same virtues as you gentlemen have. God bless you all!”
Our world is rife with problems, stress, everything spinning around money. We all need to be prompted by this event, and try to look after one another more often. Good people will always find a way to help others. This is proof that genuine people just like Howard and his friends still exist.
